I saw the first flakes fall today! I have a love/hate relationship with snow. My gut reaction as I heard the office chatter around me exclaim "it's snowing" is to feel sick at the thought of having to drive up the hill to pick up Ally from her Omi's. The hate part of snow is the driving in it, otherwise what's not to like? If I could be a stay at home mom I would absolutely LOVE IT! There's nothing better in the Winter than to have snow falling softly or even as a blizzard, and be able to stay indoors. Unless of course, by choice I go out to play in the snow with the kids and Matt. We have made some exceptional snowmen in our day! I would put together a pot of something scrumptious for dinner, to simmer all day and fill the house with a delightful aroma. I would snuggle up by a fire listen to it pop and crackle, put on some music, grab a book, and catch up on some reading. Or maybe this was a day that we are all home together and after making the quintessential snowman we trudge in and warm up with a hot drink and decide YES this would be a great day to make cookies!! There is something magical about that kind of day when the snow is falling. I hope in the years to come I can still enjoy a stay at home snow day with my children, Matt, and our grandchildren....SOMEDAY. In the meantime I will still get that sick feeling when I know I have to drive in it...and that silly happy feeling when I know I am safe and warm and content with those I love INSIDE while the snow is falling OUTSIDE!
P.S. This in no way diminishes from the joy of Halloween coming. It just adds a little uh oh to what type of costumes we can all wear!
